Information on Becoming an ADAMH Board Member

The Fairfield County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board is searching for additional board members!

The Board is a statutorily created 14-member policy-making board that plans, funds, and monitors public mental health and addiction services in Fairfield County. The work we do benefits from the variety of backgrounds and perspectives represented by the Board members. Some of the backgrounds include: law, medicine, business, education, healthcare, criminal justice, the faith community, and many others.

Commitment to serving on the ADAMH Board includes attending:

• Monthly Board meetings
• Monthly committee meetings
• Preparation time for meetings
• Annual trainings

To be eligible for an appointment via the ADAMH Board, an applicant must meet one of the following criteria:

• A person who has received or is receiving services for a substance use disorder;*
• A parent or other relative of a person who has received or is receiving services for a substance use disorder;*
• A person who has received or is receiving mental health services;
• A parent or other relative of a person who has received or is receiving mental health services;
• A clinician** with experience in the delivery of mental health services;
• A clinician** with experience in the delivery of substance use services.

*A substance use disorder includes but is not limited to: alcohol use disorder, prescription pain medication use disorder, heroin use disorder, methamphetamine use disorder, gambling disorder, and so forth.

**A clinician refers to: a physician (family physician, psychiatrist, etc.), nurse practitioner, counselor, family therapist or social worker
