First, I would like to express how grateful I am to have the opportunity to be working with the ADAMH Board as part of the Harold Rodgers Grant. I have recently moved back to the area and am eager to reconnect with the community. I am very appreciative to be the selected candidate and have been impressed by how supportive this community is of its residents and the strong focus on education, outreach, and prevention efforts regarding alcoholism, drug abuse and mental health issues.
I grew up in the Logan area and attended Ohio University majoring in Sociology specializing in Criminology with a minor in Philosophy. I took advantage of OU’s multiple locations and attended the Athens, Lancaster and Pickerington branches. I was two quarters away from graduating when my husband was offered a job opportunity that we could not refuse and relocated us from home base to Raleigh, North Carolina. I did graduate from OU with an Associate in Science. But I committed myself to completing my Bachelor’s degree, which I did a several years later. I graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice, graduating with top Latin honors: Summa Cum Laude, in 2012.
After several relocations, we made the decision to move back to “home base”. I am happy to be back and I am very happy to be working with the ADAMH board as I plan to learn as much as possible, gain more experience and become more involved in the community. As it stands, I believe my husband and I are done moving and plan to finally put down some roots!
